In the history of humanity, diseases have been the most terrifying presence, and the birth of immunology signifies a deep understanding of the human immune system. Many diseases have been controlled and even conquered. In 2023, the Nobel Prize was awarded to the mRNA vaccine against COVID-19, which was inseparable from the exploration of immunology in vaccine engineering. When the engineering of the immune system became possible, humans began to design and control immune cells to combat diseases. The concept of cell therapy also matured, providing more possibilities for the treatment of future cancers and even other terminal illnesses.

"BioX Immunology Engineering and Cell Therapy" will analyze in detail the workings of the human immune system and its applications in cell therapy; through paper reading and roundtable discussions, it will explore the interdisciplinary nature of immunology, medicine, and cell engineering, combining topics such as vaccines and immunotherapy, and pondering the infinite potential of immunology in future healthcare.

Finally, you will complete a culminating project on the conceptual design of immune cell receptors and immune response, completing the entire scientific research topic proposal process from topic selection, experimental design, hypothesis expectation, to the final poster presentation.

Previously involved in research at the Pathology and Engineering Departments of the University of Cambridge, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences/Basic Medical College of Peking Union Medical College, and Hebrew SeniorLife Aging Research Center, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Completed an internship at BeiGene, participating in the research and development of monoclonal antibody drugs for COVID-19. Won the Gold Award in the British Biology Olympiad and a Gold Award in the iGEM competition during high school.

How is the student-teacher ratio in the major courses?

In each year's X ACADEMY summer program, the ratio of mentors to explorers is 1:5, with 1-2 mentors and 2-5 course assistants (academic leaders) in each course. Compared to traditional large classes, you will have more abundant opportunities for communication and learning.
